WhiskyOmega's Profile Picture
Artist | Professional | Varied
WhiskyOmega is a spirited varied artist from Northern British Columbia Canada who dabbled in a little of everything from graphic design to handcrafts and animation; she enjoys the challenge of trying her hand at new and exiting media.

Having had a passion for the arts from a young age, she's met relative success with her work early on when it was featured in her city's local art gallery when she was only eight years old, then a second time when she was sixteen. Since then she's received numerous awards for her artwork and literature, along with regular commissions from local and foreign clients for everything from business to charity. While freelanceing was never her #1 choice in career, she enjoys it as a hobby while she chisels away at her ultimate life goals of becoming a tattoo artist professionally and publishing her own series of books (comics, light novels and childrens' books)

When asked what her favorite themes to work on were, she replied " Anything to do with robots, mechs or armor, probably because I grew up loving to watch cartoons like Gundam Wing and Transformers."
Despite being an accomplished artist in her local community, Whisky's not shy to admit that she has no desire to reach any level of online or global fame for her work, seeming content with what she's achieved already.
When not creating artwork or writing up a storm she enjoys her full-time job cooking and bar tending by day, while by night indulging her passion for video games, horror movies, listening to music, looking after her beloved parents and volunteering where she can.

In celebration of deviantART turning 15 the crew's put together an interesting assortment of website stats, the most impressive being that over 1,000,000 llamas were given out last year alone! Wow.

They also asked us a few questions:

dA: How long have you been on DeviantArt?
WO: Dispite the short lifetime of my current account, I've actually been on dA for a decade with previous accounts I shut down when I grew bored of them. This one will be a keeper, however.

dA:What does your username mean?
WO: I've had a few over the years, all of which meaning something personal to me. Oddly enough, when I first created "WhiskyOmega" it didn't mean much to me except that it sounded cool. Some people pointed out that it sounded very much like a military code name, being that both words are used in the military alphabet. As the years went by and I used this name for all of my online identities, it began to mean something personal to me. It encompassed my journey as a person and the job I had as a bar tender that actually changed my life for the better, allowing me to become the person I'd always wanted to be but had previously lacked the confidance to become. The name finally suited me, irronically enough.

dA: Describe yourself in three words.
WO: Independant. Quirky. Genuine.

dA: Are you left or right handed?
WO: Right handed.

dA: What was your first deviation?
WO: Hmm.... I can't remember what my first piece of submitted work to dA was back in my first account, but I'm pretty sure one of my first in this one was the "Nightmare Jack" outline. I could be wrong, but it's one of the oldedt in my gallery for sure.

dA: What is your favourite type of art to create?
WO: I really love traditional artwork, although most of my work that appears in this gallery is digital. I just like working with the various toold and feeling them with my own hands. I also feel like I have more controle over my work with traditional also; no one can delete it by accident...

dA:  If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
WO: Animation would be the style of work I'd love to instantly master, as I've so many ideas I want to see come to life. I'm dabbling in it now, but am far from the quality I'd eventually like to accomplish.

dA: What was your first favourite?
WO: Again, I can't remember what my first Fav on my first account was, but I'm pretty sure on this one it was something to either do with Gundam or Transformers. That was one of my first Collections.

dA: What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
WO: Well, the themes I tend to Fav the most are usually Gundam or Transformers related. As for the type of media, I find most are digitally created.

dA: Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
WO: I have way too many that I love to start naming them, so I won't even try.  That might be a cop-out. But seriously, I can't pick just a couple.

dA: If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
WO: I'd have loved to have met Monty Oum. He was such a charater, passionate about what he did and overflowed with creativity that it was infectious. Sadly, however, he passed away early this year. His work on the Halo Machinima Red vs Blue still continues to inspire me, however.

dA: How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
WO: I don't know any specific deviant who's impacted my life; I've conversed with many who've inspired me to become a better artist over the years. Most of which I watch.

dA: What are your preferred tools to create art?
WO: Markers and outline pens are great for detail, while paints are wonderful for creating shades. I've always loved colourful pens. Though, recently, I've also really loved my Bamboo tablet.

dA: What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
WO: At my kitchen table, actually. I do most of my work there, whether it's painting, drawing or writing. My cats help me sitting on my work and getting in my way when I've been absorbed in my work for too long and missed their meal times. XD

dA: What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
WO: It was long alo, but my favorite memory was when an artist that was 10X better then I was faved one of my pieces and commented that they liked it. That was the first time I felt encouraged to continue with my passion, that it wasn't for nothing, and discovered other supportive people in the community.
Whenever I feel discouraged I remember that and it helps me get back in the saddle.

[Please excuse any spelling mistakes.]

Answering these questions really brought me back to why I've stuck with this site for so long, bringing back old memories I'd forgotten for a while and inspired me to get back into my artwork. My true happiness in life.

Thanx for the memories, dA, and I look forward to many more years being part of this awesome community.

Deviant Arts 16th BDay
Happy 16th dA!
Now you're legal enough to drive! Congrats!

The lion is leading the other animals away from poachers in the night. If you ask me, the alligator knows something but isn't talking....

Done in MS Paint using the Photo Bucket tool, obviously.

The imagination is a funny thing.

I am not a My Little Pony fan, but nor do I hate it either; it's just not my thing. Still, when I saw a few knock-off ponies at my local Dollar Store I remember seeing what a few artists on dA had done with similar toys and thought it couldn't hurt to see what my imagination could come up with.
My painting skills still need a lot of work, but overall I'm not disappointed in my first attempt.
I'm also getting the hang of my new camera, so sorry if the quality lacks. I'll get the hang of it eventually and upload a better image.

Hand painted with acrylic paints and sealed with craft spray sealant.

I've uploaded a similar image in my other gallery: twigglywigglyworld.deviantart.…

I guess My Little Pony is trademarked by Hasbro.
